Looking to build a career in online marketing? We are offering an exciting opportunity for a paid six month internship. This job would suit a marketing student or graduate. Full training will be given, but the ideal candidate would have a good eye for detail, be good with statistics and interpreting results, a natural writer and be very thorough. You will also be highly proficient with computers.

Job Title: Online Marketing Intern

Responsible to: Online Marketing Manager

Objectives:

To assist our online marketing team with the analysis of our website performance, search engine optimisation (SEO), content creation and improving our websites on all fronts – along with learning lots of new skills and gaining good job experience along the way.

Responsibilities:

1. To ensure TOCC is represented in a positive and professional manner to customers, enquirers, homeowners, suppliers and visitors and any other person who you may come into contact with in the office or elsewhere on the company’s business.

2. Following company procedures as shown in the Staff Handbook and adhering to company and/or Health and Safety rules, regulations and legislation and being aware of the discretion required for the position.

3. Using discretion when dealing with the company’s affairs and respecting the privacy of individual employees.

4. Website analysis across our multiple cottage brands using a variety of tools including Google Analytics, SEOMoz, Link Research Tools and Search Metrics.

5. Writing high quality, unique content for our own websites.

6. Suggesting improvements to the usability and functionality of our websites.

7. Assisting with our Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

8. Looking for new advertising routes to deliver additional bookings at the lowest possible cost.

9. Obtaining links from high quality websites.

10. Updating websites using a content management system (CMS) such as Drupal.

11. Assisting with the digital marketing across our
brands including outreach campaigns and social media.

12. Eating tasty treats with the rest of the team (especially Fridays).

13. And the most important one… to carry out any reasonable task as required by the company from time to time.

Person Specification – Online Marketing Intern

This job would suit a marketing student or graduate, or somebody who is thinking about online marketing as a career. You need to have a good eye for detail, be good with statistics and interpreting results and be very thorough, as well as highly proficient with computers.

We are seeking somebody who is a highly motivated individual working well under your own initiative; you will also be very comfortable working within a dynamic team.

You will be using packages such as Google Analytics, Drupal and/or our own CMS system and a variety of online tracking tools. We will be giving training on all of these so don't worry if you don't have previous experience – that's part of the deal. The main thing is that you are able to pick things up quickly and learn new skills - a learning and progressive attitude is a just as important as anything else.

You must have a "can do" attitude, as well as enjoy seeing projects right through until the very finishing touches are completed. We want you to be a good communicator and enjoy supporting, helping and working with other people, both within the online marketing team and within our local brands throughout the country.

Our internship scheme “The Original Talent Programme” was launched in 2012 and therefore this is the third year of recruiting interns. We have learnt a lot and this year is proving even more successful. Feedback from everybody so far has been that it has worked well for both the Company and the interns – a number have even stayed on in permanent positions.

The aim of this is not only that you will be able to add some real value for our business, but that we can also help you – both in gaining new skills, but also business experience which is so important when trying to get on the career ladder these days. We think it is an interesting company to work for – offering lots of variety and you will always be kept busy!

You will be working in a team of around 45 people in Reepham. Previous experience in online marketing is preferable, but a learning and progressive attitude is a just as important.

We like to think of ourselves as pretty forward thinking and we all enjoy a challenge – and we are looking for someone who will fit into this way of working… A positive ‘can do’ attitude is a must!
