Waiter & Receptionist

Learn the fundamentals of excellence in service in the luxury hospitality sector by joining our team as a waiter and recepcionist. Learn to focus on perfect execution, process definition, maintenance of order and quality and in-house sales. Enjoy working and living in a 16Ith century palace in a beautiful town with great weather meeting (mostly) elegant, learned gentlemen as clients.

Job description

As a waiter and receptionist you will be in contact and responsible for the following different functions:

  • updating hotel occupancy with incoming reservations
  • making reservations on the phone, email and in presence
  • showing the hotel to prospective clients
  • preparing invoices, printing them and making the charges on the credit cards
  • preparing rooms for arrival (turning ligths, television radio on, preparing keys and key wallets)
  • welcoming clients
  • helping with bags
  • registration
  • accompanying them to their rooms

As a waiter you will be responsible for serving breakfasts, which comprises setting the tables the previous night, preparing the elements to serve immediately, making toast, coffees, eggs, cutting cheeses etc. serving and cleaning up tables and cleaning up the kitchen and room (loggia) after the service. Also, as a waiter, you will learn about our tapas, entrees, desserts and wines, both in the bar and the restaurant.

The position is a double one - waiter and recepctionist because the Casa Palacio de Carmona is a small luxury hotel, in which we have few clients - normally from four to six rooms on average occupied, and we have to provide a high level of service to very few people- thus, the actual amount of time providing service to clients is much less than this long list of functions suggests.

You will be required to work 6 days a week at variable times.

We provide a room of the hotel for you, and food on occasion but not necessarily every meal every day - you will have to cook for yourself those days that we (the owners and live-in family) don't have food organized or are out for the day.

We require a minimum of 4 months commitment.

A very important part of the internship is that it is mostly upto the intern to provide their own motivation and willingness to work and to invest in their knowledge and abilities. If you can bring this focus to your work, the internship will be an invaluable learning experience, however, if you are not clear about developing in the service/hotel/restaurant/luxury sectors, or are not a hard worker, self motivator, please do not apply, because we will not be able to engage you, and the internship will resulti in being a little bit of a deception for both you and us.

We have been welcoming internships for several years now, and we know it is a very good collaboration for us and for the interns, who have a real opportunity to learn and gain confidence in action, at a high level of sophistication, and to the extent that they can relate, learn about a new culture and feel welcome within our family.

  • Size of the company: 6-8 employees
  • Company culture: Completly Client-focused, rigorous in procedures and standards, open, honest and supportive in personal relationships
  • Description of the job - above
