This is a live in position where you would be sharing accomodation with either a people who have learning disabilities or with other volunteers.
You do not need any qualifications but it would be beneficial to have some understanding of how learning difficulties effect people.

Hilt is a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities to live independently in the community. We work across 4 East London boroughs and our central office is in Hackney.

We are looking for volunteers who:

- can live with & support adults with learning disabilities for 30-35 hours per week, possibly including early mornings, evenings and weekends. Tasks could include supporting people with household tasks such as shopping, cooking, cleaning, as well as with leisure and social activities, such as playing a sport, meeting friends or going to an art gallery.

- are available for 6-12 months

- speak a good level of conversational English

- enjoy working with people and have good communication skills

- are responsible, mature and reliable

- free (shared) accommodation and utility bills paid

- a small weekly living allowance to cover food and travel costs

- induction, ongoing support and supervision

- a chance to gain experience in social care and meet new people

Job Requirements

No previous experience is required. The recruitment process can take a few weeks as we need to do an interview, get references and a criminal record check. This is because we work with vulnerable adults.
