Every day thousands of childcare workers are absent from work due to sickness, hangovers or other unlikely reasons.  Families need childcare and nurseries need unqualified temporary care staff to meet statutory ratios, mainly during social hours.  Work very flexible, you can work full-time, usually just weekdays, part-time, or hourly am/pm.  Some employers need just 2-3 hours need lunch cover, which could earn you £75 - £100 per week. Don't worry if you have to attend lectures the sector is used to having students on day release.

Job Requirements

Register with ParaNannies to get satisfying social care work with children under 5, (it'll look good on your CV) where and when you wish, and get paid quickly for the hours you do. You don't need any qualifications, and you'll be supervised, but if you wish to work in the sector for longer it helps to get CRB check; most employers will arrange for it free of charge. You must also speak a reasable standard of English, but other languages can be useful due to the diverse range of young children currently in daycare from different nations.

If you wish to work fewer hours but earn more per hour, consider auxiliary nursery jobs such as cook or cleaner, typically required between 2 - 6 hours per day.  Cleaning is suitable 6th form students because it usually takes place early evening.
