About The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Regional Technical Manager (Food Safety and Compliance) to cover the South East (London, Home Counties, Essex, West Midlands, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, East Anglia and Humberside).


You will be supporting our retail stores and logistics sites to uphold all elements of safety and legality. You will have specific responsibility for food safety and will work to ensure the safety of our customers and colleagues as well as legality of our Brand. Working with internal and external stakeholders to meet these objectives and drive improvements in compliance. The consequences of failure could result in customer illness/death, unlimited fines, adverse publicity and serious damage to the brand.


You will undertake improvement projects within our retail stores & logistics sites and conduct Safe & Legal audits to identify support areas.


About You

Knowledge (Desirable)

  • Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology or a closely related discipline

  • Lead Assessor Qualification

  • Recognised HACCP Qualification to at least Intermediate Level

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of catering or retail and the required food safety controls

  • Knowledge and understanding of food safety legislation and its requirements

  • Experience of Environmental Health Officers.

  • An appreciation of the microbiological safety and quality aspects of high risk products

  • An understanding of food safety / quality management systems

  • An understanding of Health & Safety and Trading Standards functions.


Skills:

  • Strong communication, engagement and motivational skills

  • Ability to coach to drive performance improvement

  • The ability to engage with colleagues at all levels to drive improvements

  • Ability to influence business decisions that impact on food safety and legality

  • The ability to champion the customer and retain a customer focus whilst keeping food safety at the forefront

  • Ability to identify risk and prioritise tasks

  • Tenacity to follow up and resolve issues

  • Analytical thinking

  • Problem solving approach

  • Good computer & presenting skills.

Experience:

  • Post-graduate experience in a food safety role

  • Food Safety auditing experience
