Hello, we’re Kaleidoscope. A social enterprise using our earnings to further our mission: to work with others in health and care to create a future which is connected, kind and joyful.
We're very excited to be launching The Perspectives Programme, a 9 month internship placement for people at the start of their career in the health world. We're looking for two interns to join our team.
The programme is designed to discover new and creative ways to tackle how to promote unheard voices in the context of health and care.
Although we are big fans of a cup of tea at Kaleidoscope, we don't want interns who are glorified tea makers (although in fairness, cups of tea are probably a key part of all of our roles).
This internship is about making a real difference, so alongside supporting client delivery, interns will be supported to design and lead on their own project to improve the way unheard voices are heard in healthcare.
The programme is open to all applicants, no matter their background or experience provided they have a passion for improving health and care, and a plan for promoting unheard voices and celebrating diversity.
For the first round of recruitment we just want to know about a project that candidates think we should invest in. We want you to reflect on your experience or that of family or friends, and pitch us a project (which will take approx 1 day per week over 9 months to deliver) that promotes a way in which health and healthcare can hear from unheard voices. We've done lots of different and wonderful stuff so anything is possible (well, almost!) as long as it addresses the way unheard voices are heard in health care.
For the duration of the internship we will support you to spend approximately 20% of your time (1 day a week over a 9 month period) developing and delivering a project to promote unheard voices in healthcare. What this project will look like is up to you - telling the stories of a marginalised group, a project to hear lived experiences in policymaking, or something completely different!
But (and this is important) as well as offering you a chance to design and deliver your own programme we will also give you real experience of consultancy and the health and policy sector. From the outset we will expect you to work as part of Kaleidoscope supporting client delivery and leading pieces of your own work - all done with the overt aim of building your skills and confidence in the workplace.
We do "traditional consultancy" through advising health and care organisations on their strategy, we support networks and partnerships, we design and facilitate a whole host of face-to-face and digital events and we work with clients across the public, private and voluntary sectors. But we also like to play with ideas that help our mission, even if it costs us money to do it. We're going to keep thinking up new ideas and seeing which work wonderfully, which flop fantastically, and which should never be touched by anyone, ever again.
We're proud of what we're doing at Kaleidoscope, and we want to share this with as many people as possible. Diversity of thought and experience is incredibly important and if we want to continue to grow as an organisation that produces fresh and creative ideas, we need to support a variety of voices and perspectives to be a part of Kaleidoscope.
We are not able to sponsor any visas at this point, so all applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and over 18 years of age.
