Database Assistant - short term role in the charitable sector in London

This is an exciting opportunity to enhance your skills and support us in developing our new Charity Log data management system. You will be supporting a small, friendly and dynamic team and gain a unique understanding of working in the charitable sector.

14 hours per week
Between £11.00 and £12.00 Per Hour

What are you going to do:

We are seeking a Database Assistant on a short-term temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance your skills and support us in developing our new Charity Log data management system. We are 1 year into the new system and are looking for someone with advanced Excel skills and knowledge of databases to help us make improvements to the system and our processes for data checking and reporting. You will be supporting a small, friendly and dynamic team and gain a unique understanding of working in the charitable sector.

Home-Start Westminster is a leading family support charity, working with families with young children who are experiencing difficulties in 3 boroughs – Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, and Hammersmith and Fulham. We offer a unique service, training volunteers to provide weekly practical and emotional support to families in their homes.

Duties:

Data cleaning – cleaning the existing data management system and setting up a system of regular checks

Reporting – using the data management system to export the relevant data into Excel. Using Excel to produce required reports 

Skills/experience:

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience of databases and the ability to learn new software packages quickly
  • Ability to accurately maintain records; excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to scrutinise and analyse data and determine meaning from it
  • Understanding of maintaining confidentiality, Data Protection and handling sensitive information

Contract: 5 week temporary contract with possible extension
