Land-based engineering is a broad and highly specialised industry working with a vast array of machines. As an apprentice, you’ll train to work on a range of specialist vehicles and machines in a sector such as agriculture, forestry, horticulture, groundcare and fixed plant. Integral to the role will be keeping equipment in good working order through planned maintenance, as well as carrying out any diagnostic and repair work when required. As 1st and 2nd year apprentice, you’ll be heavily supported in your role working with experianced members of staff learining all about the industry. At the advanced level, you’ll undertake a more complex role with broader duties that could include dealing with customers, installing and using new and existing land-based equipment, going out on break downs or supervising a workshop where equipment is maintained and repaired. All engineering roles will require a high level of technical ability and a passion for fixing things is essential.
All your training will take place at Brooksby Melton College on Block Release. You will be requiered to stay there for two weeks at a time whilst training.
