** 18 month Fixed Term Contract - Apprenticeship **

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration Apprenticeship Programme within the duration of the placement.

The Surgical Division is a busy working environment . We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible Apprentice Medical Secretary to join our friendly team based in the Dermatology Department

As post holder you will be required to support Directorate Medical Secretarial and administration teams with both secretarial and administrative tasks . Working closely with colleagues your responsibilities will include general office administration, supporting medical secretarial teams and MDT preparation. You may also be trained to support outpatient reception teams to provide relief cover.

You will act as a point of contact for all communications between the Consultant, patients, relatives, all hospital staff, General Practitioners and their staff and outside agencies, maintaining a close working relationship between Consultants and patients as appropriate. Assist in the management of the office administration of the Consultant and designated clinical team. Provide an effective administrative secretarial service, ensuring continuity of service during the Consultant absence.

All applicants must be:

  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years
  • Must not have a Degree, Level 4 qualification or above
  • Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSE’s at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills
