Job Title: Apprentice Nursery Assistant

 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week to work flexibly between 7am– 6pm Monday to Friday.

Fixed term contract 18 months

 

Salary: GHNHSFT Apprentice Terms and Conditions

£10,132 pa (pro rata), £5.18 per hour

 

Department/Area: Little Apples Nursery Cheltenham General Hospital (with occasional requirement to travel to Little Oaks, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital)

 

Accountable to: Senior Nursery Manager

 

Do you have a passion for looking after young children and babies? If so come and be part of our Extraordinary Everyday - We are looking for an Apprentice Nursery Assistant at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to complete an Intermediate Level 3 Apprenticeship, Diploma in Children’s and Young People’s Workforce and gain valuable experience within a nursery setting.

 

This apprenticeship vacancy would be suitable for anyone who has an interest in starting or pursuing a career within an Early Years setting.

 

The Apprentice Nursery Assistant would be managed by the Nursery Manager and under their direction the apprentice will:

 

        • Meet and greet children, parents/carers in a friendly, polite and professional style

        • Ability to work on own initiative, independently and as part of a team

        • Whilst providing high standards, be able to contribute to a safe, fun and stimulating environment

        • Under guidance organise, arrange and provide activities under the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to meet the individual needs of the children

        • Adhere to Nursery Policy and Operational Plan and bring to the attention of the Manager any ineffective practice

        • Be committed to our Trust Values – Listening, Excelling and Caring

        • The apprentice will have no budgetary responsibility or direct management responsibility

        • Undertake any other appropriate duties, commensurate with the role as required at the request of your supervisor

        • An aptitude to looking after pre-school children in a warm, friendly and caring manner

        • Good communication skills and able to engage children’s interests through fun activities

        • Ability to work on own initiative, independently and as part of a team and under instruction

        • Be flexible to the meet the needs of working at either of the Nursery settings at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital

        • Sensitivity and compassion

        • Ability to work flexibly

        • Be able to prioritise

        • To be able to remain calm under pressure

        • Undertake an End Point Assessment

           

          The Apprentice Nursery Assistant will work as part of a team, have a flexible attitude to work, be professional, treat everyone with kindness and respect, and have the confidence to communicate with a range of healthcare staff.

           

          The Apprentice will also ensure a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development. Working in the nursery requires the apprentice to be flexible and alter activities and priorities as the need arises.

 

This apprenticeship is full time, the maximum working week is 37.5 hours / week; this includes a daily unpaid break of 30 minutes.

 

The young person (under 18 years) will have a break every 4.5 hours worked; there is no weekend working.
