Accounts Apprentice in Hucknall

A new role has been developed within the Doff finance team which requires an enthusiastic candidate looking to begin a career in finance. The successful candidate can expect to have a wide range of exposure regarding finance functions, a progressive role and great team atmosphere. The role will report direct to the Senior Accounts Assistant and will provide support for all members of the team. With responsibilities on both purchase and sales ledger the candidate will be trained on all aspects of finance. Training inhouse both on finance processes and excel will be made readily available as well as study support for the AAT qualification.

Duration of Apprenticeship: 12-18 months dependent on training provider

Pay: £156.00 per week

Hours of work: 40 hours per week 8am to 5pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday, with day release for study

Main duties will include

  • Coding, processing and obtaining authorisation
  • for all purchase ledger invoices
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Producing payment runs ensuring payment terms
    are adhered to
  • Dealing with supplier queries
  • Assisting the Senior Accounts Assistant with any
    other purchase ledger functions
  • Chasing customers for outstanding debt
  • Invoice discount reconciliation
  • Resolving customer queries
  • Processing of debit notes
  • Assisting the Senior Accounts Assistant with any
    other sales ledger functions
  • Ensuring payroll hours match clocking in data
  • Processing of staff expenses and credit cards
  • Assisting Senior Accounts Assistant with
    warehouse stock checks
  • Any other administrative duties

What we ask:

  • At least finished high school
  • Basic excel skills (more advanced skills can be taught)
  • Attention to detail with the ability to double check work
  • Confidence to grow within the role and learn new tasks
  • A keen interest in a finance career
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A-C / 9-4 (or equivalent) including maths and English
  • The successful candidate must be able to travel to the workplace according to working hours and to the chosen training provider for day release
