Pathways into Politics: Opportunities for 18-30 yr old Muslims

Forward Thinking are delighted to launch our ‘Pathways into Politics’ programme which provides an opportunity for 18-30 year old Muslims from Huddersfield, Batley, Dewsbury, Manchester, Bradford and Bolton to develop political literacy, leadership and communication skills and to learn from political leaders from a range of backgrounds.

15 - 35 hours per week

What are you going to do:

We are looking for young leaders and change makers within their communities, whatever stage of their career they may currently be in, with a genuine interest in political issues who may benefit from this development prospect.

The first part of the programme, provisionally planned for 3-4 December 2019 (dates TBC), will consist of a 2-day free residential stay in London for up to 10 individuals, including travel, accommodation and food, involving a series of activities which are designed to develop leadership and communication skills and political literacy. Speakers will include local and national politicians, journalists, members of civil society organisations and others.

The second part of the programme will seek to seed these participants into mentorship positions with MPs, councillors and other relevant individuals to offer further opportunities for growth.

This is a competitive process for up to 10 individuals and you will be assessed on the strength of your application.

What we offer:

  • Chance to develop political literacy, communication and leadership skills
  • Opportunity to network with like-minded people
