Mental health services
We provide a wide range of treatment and support to young people, adults and older people experiencing mental illness both as inpatients and within the community. This includes treatment in secure and specialised settings.
Community health services
Our diverse range of community health services provide support and treatment to both adults and children. We deliver this care in community hospitals, health centres, GP surgeries and in people’s homes.
Learning disabilities services
We provide crisis support and inpatient services and our community learning disability teams work in partnership with local councils to provide assessment and support for adults with learning disabilities.
Social care
We provide personalised social care support to people with a range of needs, including people with learning disabilities or mental illness, supporting people to live independently.

In early 2019 a new and exciting Admiral Nurse Service was launched in North East Essex, hosted by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and in partnership with Dementia UK. This service provides specialist dementia support for families and carers across the locality. The fully established service is now seeking a further band 6 Admiral Nurse to complete the team.
Under the supervision of a Band 7 Admiral Nurse Clinical Team Lead, and alongside a further Band 6 Admiral Nurse you will provide person-centred and relationship-centred dementia care and support improvements in the experience for families affected by dementia across the North East Essex Locality (Colchester and Tendring).
As this post is delivered in partnership with Dementia UK, you will receive significant support to maintain and strengthen your clinical expertise as a specialist nurse through monthly clinical supervision, practice and professional development and access to masterclasses. You will also become part of the wider network of Admiral Nurses across the country. This is a unique opportunity to build your skills and knowledge and to expand your clinical practice in a rewarding, supportive and forward thinking team.
The successful applicants will be NMC registered with post-registration clinical experience of working with people with dementia and their carers/supporters in different settings, along with formal knowledge of dementia acquired through clinical post-graduate training/education.
Whilst full time hours are available, we are also willing to offer a flexible approach, including part time hours for a suitable candidate.
What is an Admiral Nurse?
Admiral Nurses are all qualified nurses with a professional specialism in dementia. Admiral Nurses provide specialist dementia support for families when times are challenging or difficult. By adopting a relationship-centred approach Admiral Nurses work alongside people with dementia, their families and carers to provide expert guidance and practical solutions that can be difficult to find elsewhere. They also provide education, leadership, development and support to other colleagues and service providers. The upskilling of colleagues allows the expertise of Admiral Nurses to reach beyond the families on their direct caseload.
Key interventions include:
Specialist holistic assessment and needs identification of families and their wider network of support for people with a learning disability and dementia.
Psychological support to help people with a learning disability and dementia and their families/support circle to understand and deal with their feelings, thoughts and emotions
Practical advice and strategies aimed at preventing and managing situations that can arise after a dementia diagnosis
Therapeutic and educational interventions to help empower families and support them to live more positively with the person with a learning disability and dementia
Collaboration with professionals and organisations to ensure families receive coordinated support
Care management and navigation
Where an admission is clinically unavoidable the Admiral Nurse will ensure a smooth transfer of care, laying the foundations for personalised care and support planning

What training will I receive?
In addition to the support that you will receive from EPUT, you will also benefit from support from Dementia UK. This will include regular clinical supervision, professional and practice development, and links with other Admiral Nurses both regionally and nationally, to enable you to be at the forefront of dementia care.
