Job description

We are looking for talented and enthusiastic up and coming journalists or hobby writers to join our collective of young writers. Due to our high standard of editing, our network's articles have gained the attention of many mainstream news platforms. The platform is perfect for young budding journalists and writers, aiming to get noticed by major media networks or hobby writers simply wishing to get their work read by a wide audience.

As a contributor you will be involved in the shaping of Shout Out UK's articles. We offer training to those that wish to specialise, improve their CV and job prospects or learn a new skill.

Shout Out UK is an independent news network that, via journalism, film and events, aims to show young people that politics has a direct impact on everything you do in life, with the aim of lowering political apathy among the next generation.

Since our launch in July 2012, we have become one of Britain's fastest growing alternative and independent news platforms, bolstering one of the largest network of young political, cultural and creative writers from all over the globe.

We are the only Independent UK news network, run by under 25s able to work closely with national and international figures and organisations. We were the creators of Channel 4's Youth Leader's Debate.

With such a position we are able to question and delve into the political landscape, giving young people a voice nationally and international, while reporting on issues often ignored by the main stream press.

Why Join the Society

Freedom: We do not depend on advertisers for finance, allowing us to give our writers a flexibility enjoyed no where else. We are the only news network that can publish any article because of it's quality alone, uninfluenced by sponsors or advertiser bias.

Networking: We hold regular events in the Houses of Parliament and in other government buildings, offering a variety of networking opportunities for our writers. These events also help writers find individuals with the same interests as them, a community through and through.

Debates: We strive to create and maintain a community that is diverse in opinion. Through debates we can come to positive solutions. With such an ethos in mind, we set up regularly debates between contributors, pitting them against each other on issues they fervently believe in. The community has the final say.

Community: As our global network grows, so does our reach. Contributors can tap into this growing network for travel tips, political information from the local level or simply for information.
