    Our UK headquarters is based in Worcester where all the main functions of the business are located including the manufacturing of gas boilers. We have a further site in Clay Cross Derbyshire where our oil boilers are manufactured.

    Job Description

    Based in Clay Cross, you will have the chance to work for a dynamic Company to enrich your knowledge and experience. During your 12 month Internship, you will have the opportunity to support on a range of topics and become an integral part of the team.

    The Design Intern will assist in the design of jigs, fixtures & manipulators for all current/future production requirements & management of internal/external manufacturing resources. Assist in achieving effective production processes through the reduction of process downtime and the elimination of failures through robust and reliable designs. Support the reduction of internal quality costs by error proofing the processes through the implementation of DFMA, Poka-yoke and Jidoka methodologies. Assist in the creation of production process layouts and ensure that Lean Manufacturing & Ergonomic requirements are considered at design stage. Assist in obtaining competitive costs for external manufactured plant. Undertake any projects from time to time that may be requested by the Jig & Tool Development Manager, to support business needs. Responsibilities can include

    • Design process flow layouts, production area construction & service requirements to create new & improved manufacturing process layouts.
    • Design Jigs, Fixtures & manipulators for manufacturing in-house or sub-contracted, utilising Poka Yoke, Jidoka error proofing & DFMA methodologies to create efficient & practical working solutions to support “Right First Time” manufacturing.
    • Liaise with all providers & suppliers to obtain designs & quotations for equipment & manufactured parts as required.
    • Support production in their pursuit of “right first time” manufacturing.
    • Learn to purchase parts & services through the Bosch Purchasing System.
    • Be committed to the recognition & implementation of housekeeping and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements across the site.
    • Contribute to an effective manufacturing support team.
    • Undergo personnel development training and assist and train others in all relevant fields.

    You will also be a key support to our Worcester Contact Centre, answering inbound phonecalls. This will allow you to develop and enhance your communication skills for the future.

    Qualifications
    • Be an undergraduate student with a desire to complete a 12 month work placement as part of degree studies.
    • Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
    • Has the ability to adapt quickly to changing working environments and is ready to embrace new ways of working through digitalisation.
    • Has the capability to work well in a team as well as independently, using own initiative.
    • Has a quality mind-set with high attention to detail.
    • Can communicate confidently with people at all levels, written and verbal (including on the telephone).
    • IT literate and confident in using MS Office packages as well as learning Company systems.
