Employer description: Runshaw College is one of the most successful colleges in the UK, with renowned Nationally for outstanding results, friendly and supportive ; Job overview: Runshaw College is looking to recruit a Data Analyst Apprentice to join the ; The Data Analyst Apprentice will be responsible for working with both the Support and Development aspect of Reporting within the QMIST Team. This covers the strategic development and use of in-house and externally sourced reporting applications, alongside some Database Administration and all other non-development specific user interfaces – including all incidents and requests for reporting services. The apprentice will produce management information to support decision making and produce outputs to assist ; Main Responsibilities: Liaison with QMIST customers – including gathering requirements and presenting solutions Liaison with third parties for solutions and ongoing development of their applications/reports Maintain the security, integrity and confidentiality of the College Information Systems and the College data within all developments Represent QMIST/Runshaw at relevant meetings and user groups with support from other staff as appropriate Ensure reports are developed according to customer requirements Ensure that all developed reports are fully tested and incorporate business continuity principles as standard Ensure that all reports are properly documented for both user and technical use/support Produce scripts required for the maintenance/update of data Extract data for customers in order to support College processes Identify, collect and migrate data to/from a range of internal and external systems Manipulate and link different data sets as required Interpret and apply the organisations data and information security standards, policies and procedures to data management activities Collect and compile data from different sources Perform database queries across multiple tables to extract data for analysis Perform routine statistical analyses and ad-hoc queries Use a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series forecasting and modelling techniques to identify and predict trends and patterns in data Assist production of performance dashboards and reports Assist with data quality checking and cleansing Apply the tools and techniques for data analysis, data visualisation and presentation Assist with the production of a range of ad-hoc and standard data analysis reports Summarise and present the results of data analysis to a range of stakeholders making recommendations Essential skills, experience and knowledge: A willingness to undertake appropriate Continuous Professional Learning Good understanding of data and the interpretation of data Understanding of SQL Experience in mathematical techniques for data analysis Knowledge of presentation methods for reports and management information Experience and proficiency in MS Office Packages Analytical and problem-solving skills Desirable skills, experience and knowledge: Experience of using SQL in a work setting Knowledge of enterprise reporting systems (Microsoft SSRS, Crystal Enterprise) Experience at working with customers to specify requirements Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with a wide range of people at different levels and organisations Desired qualifications: Level 3 Qualification in relevant discipline (A Levels or BTEC Diploma) Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade A / 9 to C / 4 or equivalent, with English and Maths at Grade 5 / B being two of those subjects Working Hours and Holiday Entitlement: You will be required to work such hours as are reasonable for the proper performance of your duties and responsibilities, normally 37 hours per ; This post is temporary for 24 months. You will receive (pro rata) 20 days’ holiday in each holiday year, increasing to 25 days’ holiday after completing 5 years’ service (as at 01 August) 8 Bank and Public Holidays 4 extra Statutory Holidays 3 closure days should the College decide to close in the interests of efficiency This entitlement will be on a pro-rata basis for posts that are part-time Additional Information: The College is committed to Safeguarding and protecting the health and welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
