An apprenticeship in the Therapy Service at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an excellent opportunity to complete an Advanced Level (Level 3) Apprenticeship in Healthcare Support Worker and gain valuable healthcare experience within an acute hospital setting.
This apprenticeship vacancy would be suitable to anyone who has an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare and in particular the Occupational/Physiotherapy areas.
The Apprentice Therapy Support Worker would be managed by the Senior Therapists and be supported to use the principles of occupational therapy and physiotherapy to carry out activities including:
Implementing delegated treatment plans and facilitating rehabilitation
Assessing and managing delegated patients with non-complex mobility and occupational difficulties, reporting back to the registered practitioner as necessary.
Supporting the teams with administration, clerical and housekeeping duties.
The Apprentice Therapy Support Worker would be expected to be professional, treat everyone with kindness and respect, and have the confidence to communicate with patients and healthcare professionals in order to provide a friendly, efficient and courteous service to all patients.
The job requires the apprentice to be flexible and alter activities and priorities as the need arises. It is full time and the maximum working week is 37.5 hours / week; this includes a daily unpaid break of 30 minutes.
The young person (under 18 years) will have a break every 4.5 hours worked; there is no weekend working.

You will be expected to undertake Literacy and Numeracy Initial assessments before your interview date. This can be completed on line. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a visit of the Therapy Department for a short tour. This will enable the candidates to meet staff and gain further understanding of the department and the apprentice therapy support worker role.
Interviews are expected to be held on Friday 6th March
Successful applicants will start in April and remain on programme for a minimum of 18 months
