Market Research Assistant, temp to perm position | Scotland

What are you going to do:

As a Market Research Assistant your main responsibilities will include:

• Liaising with clients, either in person or over the phone
• Conducting desk research
• Conducting primary research (recruiting respondents, conducting telephone and face-to-face interviews, moderating group discussions)
• Sourcing and liaising with subcontractors (e.g. negotiating rates and deadlines, following progress, etc.)
• Managing projects (organising facility hire, interpreter bookings, translation, transcription, updating clients on project progress, etc.)
• Ensuring that all work is delivered within the budget and deadline and meets the company’s quality standard
• Maintaining and managing freelancer database
• Managing social media profiles

Depending on experience and as your knowledge of the business improves, you will also be involved in:

• Helping with project design and methodology
• Attending fieldwork and client presentations
• Analysing data, writing reports and presenting findings

Working hours and salary

This is initially a HOME-BASED, PROJECT-BASED, PART TIME post.

Whenever you are required to work on a project, your working hours will be anywhere between 10 and 20 hours a week (Monday to Friday) with an average of 3-4 hours per day but these can be spread flexibility across the day, depending on needs.

You will be paid a competitive £10 per hour before tax.

Please note that for the first year of work, you will have to declare your income to HMRC yourself and file a tax return, if relevant.

Location

The temporary position is home-based. When working from home, you will need to have your own computer with an Internet connection and a telephone line (mobile or fixed).

If you become permanent, you will be working from an office in Bathgate, West Lothian. When working from the Bathgate office, all necessary office equipment will be provided.

Candidate profile

• You must be based in Scotland, within commuting distance of Bathgate (West Lothian)
• Native English speaker with ideally some working knowledge of another European Language (French, German, Italian, Spanish, etc.) 
• Excellent oral and written English with impeccable spelling and grammar
• Educated to Bachelor’s Degree or higher
• Ideally at least 1-2 years market research experience (but not essential)
• Numerate and computer literate (MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
• Self-starter and problem solver
