Job description

Collateral Margin Services (CMS) is a business and risk aligned function responsible for managing Barclays’ collateral, exposure, valuations and regulatory margin commitments across a range of products to help minimise credit, market and reputational risks associated to our business activity. Our focus is to ensure high levels of control and efficiency across our processes, a proactive approach to managing risk and improving processes, and to partner closely with business and infrastructure teams to support the effective use of capital and balance sheet resources for the firm. 

This role provides critical experience and expertise to the Barclays collateral function during a time of unprecedented regulatory change, contributing strongly not only to the day-to-day margin activity but also to successful delivery of regulatory compliance.

The Collateral and Margin teams are a key first line of defence function and this role is required to ensure strong delivery, control and oversight of potential risks as well as manage client service and interactions across the teams. You will partner closely with colleagues across the function as well as a diverse group of stakeholders across business and infrastructure teams

• Develop an understanding of the products involved in the business particularly with regards to parameters driving their valuation and how this may differ from counterparty
• Interact regularly with Independent Price verification and Front Office to understand and challenge models used to value trades
• Effectively communicate and escalate issues within CMS and with traders and other support functions across all global locations.
• Delivering reduction in RWAs and deep dive investigations of valuation discrepancies between Barclays and Counterparty
• Develop the market relationships with clients, counterparts, peers and industry groups to support function
• Partner with colleagues in IBMO, COU, Operations, Finance, Risk & Legal functions in a Global context to drive delivery on key business initiatives and objectives 
• Represent Global Dispute and Portfolio Reconciliation function on internal meetings and forums with senior management within Trading, Sales, Product Control & Independent Price Verification
• Actively contribute to and help lead the definition and shape of the global CMS function and needs

• Bachelor’s Degree/ Industry equivalent experience
• Strong derivatives/settlements knowledge
• Credibility and influence in order to proactively manage diverse internal stakeholder groups including Sales, Trading & Product Control

• Strong quantitative and numerate skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills including relationship management, communication and teamwork
• Track-record of delivery in a significant business-facing role
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
