As an Occupational Therapist, you will deliver exceptional occupational health to a designated group or specified patient group to help them engage in their care plan.  

Under the supervision of Senior/Specialist Occupation Therapist, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating needs-led, evidence-based individual and group treatment programmes, under the supervision of Senior/Specialist OT. 

You'll receive support from your team as you start your career and will have access to a range of training to help you reach your career goals. 

Role – Graduate Occupational Therapist

Location – Warrington, Cheshire

Salary – £26,000-£28,000

Hours –37.5, Full-Time

Your responsibilities:

  • To provide comprehensive initial and continuing OT assessments, according to the agreed model to meet CPA guidelines and OT service delivery agreement.
  • To plan and facilitate needs-led, evidence-based individual and group treatment programmes, under the supervision of Senior/Specialist OT.
  • To plan and regularly review appropriate OT treatment programmes under the supervision of a Senior Specialist OT.
  • To identify and action relevant referrals both in-house, including support staff, and to external agencies, under the supervision of a Senior/Specialist OT.
  • To attend and actively contribute to CPA/Case review meetings, working collaboratively with MDT colleagues in the planning and delivery of patients treatment programme.
  • To ensure that professional standards and COT Code of Conduct guidelines are adhered to at all times.
  • To ensure that local policies, procedures and protocols are adhered to at all times
  • To participate in the planning, evaluation and audit of practices, clinical pathways and protocols in the services
  • To respect the individually, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients and contribute to the provision of service sensitive to these needs
  • To ensure that contemporaneous, written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with professional and services standards
  • To ensure effective communication is maintained with all patients, carers and any staff involved in the patients care.
  • To adhere to a timetable of sessions which equates to a minimum of 25 hours per week as per the needs of the service
  • To provide timely and up to date ward round and CPA feedback summarising intervention in accordance with MDT schedules

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy (Essential)
  • State Registration (HPC) (Essential)
  • Member of BAOT (Desirable)
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Desirable)
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance
  • Understanding of forensic patients’ needs
  • Understanding of the CPA process
  • Evidence of ability to research, plan, implement and evaluate a project for a specific patient group
  • Knowledge of current legislation specific to this clinical environment
  • Effective written/verbal communication skills
  • Evidence of time management skills
  • Evidence of delivering presentations and training to others
  • Evidence of coping strategies to deal with confrontation, challenging behaviour and personal stress
  • Understanding of issues relating to locked rehabilitation settings and risk management
