Theatres - Brachytherapy Nurse / ODP

Band 5

Full time Monday to Friday - Unit hours 8am to 6pm.

We are looking to recruit a part time Band 5 Theatre Nurse / ODP to work in our satellite brachytherapy theatre. The successful candidate will work within our well established perioperative team as part of the larger multidisciplinary team in this department. The brachytherapy service is the largest in the UK specializing in PDR and HDR. Specialist Brachytherapy and relevant training will be given.

You will be a qualified nurse/ODP with proven abilities in operating theatres/ procedure units with an anaesthetic qualification. Recovery and scrub experience are desirable.

You will be committed to delivering high quality care with a desire to further develop your career within this rewarding specialty. You will need to have good communication skills, be highly motivated and be able to work using your own initiative, whilst being flexible about the role you undertake within a small diverse department.

The workload is varied and differs from day to day and whilst Brachytherapy is the main procedure type this is carried out across a number of specialities including prostate, cervical and lung cancer.

We also support the Procedure team with those patients that need sedation for bone marrow biopsies and aspiration and insertion of central venous access device lines.

Acute and chronic pain patients are referred for ongoing pain management treatment that is also carried out within the unit.

We are looking for someone who is a fast learner and able to provide evidence of their commitment to providing high quality patient care.

There are no ”on call” commitments or evening or weekend shifts with this post.
