About The Role

We're always scouting for talented Managers and we're currently on the look out for Operations Managers across our North Manchester area.

An Operations Manager  is focused on the input to deliver all operational aspects within the store.Ensuring, through planning and reviewing, to identify when Managers need coaching so that accurate and consistent routines are sustainably embedded in every department, resulting in outstanding performance across store performance indicators and an outstanding shopping trip for our customers. 

Role includes but not limited to:
 
Customer
  • Build relationships with all key stakeholders in order to involve the right people to deliver continuous improvements that benefit the customer
  • Lead by example to deliver exceptional standards and performance across the store whilst focusing most on what matters most for customers
  • Oversee all processes in store which affect availability of products for our customers whilst building the capability of the Management team to feedback to the respective business areas to continuously improve customers experience
  • Make time to understand from customers directly how we can improve our daily offer and build their feedback into improvement plans and work with central teams to provide insight and opportunity to continually improve the service we offer 
Colleague
  • Create an inclusive environment for all Department Managers and colleagues so they feel empowered and able to suggest improvements, and remove barriers to business challenges
  • Champion recognition, publicly thank colleagues for their contributions and encourage teams to do the same at all levels
  • Lead and support the Your Say process to ensure colleagues can contribute their ideas and suggestions and feel listened and responded to
  • Identify, develop and mentor talent across the store and wider region that creates a pipeline of successors
  • Continuously build capability of the Management team through stretching their accountability, and creating a plan for development areas
  • Work in partnership with the People Manager to embed a culture of being comfortable with change across the store and supporting Managers to do the same 
Operational
  • Accountable for the end to end process of all operational routines within store
  • Ensures appropriate resource to deliver routines to the highest standard is in place
  • Role model efficient execution of change programmes and encourage Management teams to do the same
  • An expert in safe and legal, ensuring all departments and colleagues are compliant with food safety laws
  • Ensure an efficient and timely execution of the activity plan across the store
  • Actively share knowledge and best practice with Department Managers and colleagues to maintain accurate and consistent operational routines
  • Plan and review weekly, periodically and annually to understand and support the Managers in what they need to do to achieve store performance indicators.
  • Support Managers with forward-thinking action plans for their departmental performance and hold them accountable
Selling and Stocking
  • Contribute to the development of the annual Store plan by having a commercial mindset to identify opportunities which will maximise performance
  • Oversee stock, range and merchandise routines at store level, checking off compliance against the store bulletins and set up guides
  • Instill passion for selling and stocking with colleagues so everyone understands why this is a fundamental part of our business and the service we offer
  • Use freedom within the framework to develop local ideas to exceed sales targets and drive performance whilst motivating colleagues
  • Market leading understanding of competitor impacts, and works with the central teams to minimise loss of customers and sales.

About You
What do I need to be a successful Manager?
  • Substantial retail and operational expertise across the entire store
  • Proven ability to plan and review across weekly, periodically and annual timeframes.
  • Proven ability to deliver under pressure and in situations of ambiguity
  • Commercial acumen in order to develop competitive operational plans with sound awareness of local competitor activity
  • Drive continuous improvement with cost management across all areas of the store
  • Proven ability to lead a highly performing management team to deliver excellent customer service and KPIs across the store
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across all areas/levels of the business
  • Ability to drive performance improvement across the store with Department Managers
  • Ability to effectively lead,manage and support change across the store
  • Experience as a Manager with operational management experience
