Cardiology Ward Lead Nurse - COVID-19 in Oxford

Job description

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the post of Cardiology Ward Lead Nurse within the Oxford Heart Centre on the John Radcliffe site of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder should have clinical experience of working within a cardiology area in a senior leadership position.

You will work collaboratively with the Directorate Management Team to ensure the efficient operational management of the Cardiology Ward and that strategic aims are met. They will be visible, easily identifiable and accessible to patients, relatives and all staff working within the clinical area as service needs, providing overall leadership, direction and vision for the service.

This post comes at an exciting time within Cardiology at OUH and will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to take the lead on pathway review and service improvement projects.

The Cardiology ward operates within a busy acute hospital and the Cardiac Directorate operates as a tertiary referral centre providing specialist cardiac services to patients across the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands.

The Ward has 41 beds across two areas including a 6 bedded acute cardiac care unit which offers a high level of cardiology specialist care for patients with ischaemia/infarction, life threatening arrhythmias, heart failure and valve disease and aortic and pericardial disease.

The ward also works closely with the Cardiac Angiography Suite and provides care for patients undergoing Coronary Angiography/Intervention, Pacemaker/ICD implantation, Electrophysiology Studies/Ablations, Structural/Congenital procedures and Trans-Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI).

An informal visit is recommended, so please contact Nicola Richardson – Cardiology Matron for more information.
