6 months communication Internship - Work from home *temporary*

UnLtd’s external affairs team exists to stand up for social entrepreneurs. We are a small, award- winning team which works across communications and policy to campaign for change and give a platform to the voices of people from all parts of society. Our communications intern will work to support the team in a flexible and varied role, with the opportunity to gain experience across many different aspects of the marketing and campaigning mix.  We’re looking for someone who wants to learn and grow during their time at UnLtd. From day one, we’ll support your career development and help you prepare for a career in communications. 

30 - 40 hours per week
£21,500 Per Year

What are you going to do:

Examples of the work you could be doing include:

  • Creating social media assets to support our campaigning work and inspire people to act;
  • Thinking up and executing creative ways to reach people who are underrepresented in our work, helping to ensure our work is as inclusive as possible;
  • Interviewing, crafting and co-writing stories featuring the work of our brilliant social entrepreneurs;
  • Updating our website to ensure content is current, relevant and easy to access for our users;
  • Liaising with designers to produce brilliant marketing assets on time and on budget;
  • Owning our weekly internal newsletter and playing a part in managing our social media channels.
  • Helping to promote our events through social media and offline media;
  • Developing our capability to deliver paid social media campaigns;
  • Responding to internal comms requests from colleagues;
  • Any other tasks and duties that may reasonably be required.

You may also be expected to support and deliver other projects and tasks, in line with the requirements of the internship.

Salary: £21,500 per annum pro rata + London weighting of £3,285 per annum pro rata if applicable 

Location: Due to Covid-19, this is an agile opportunity so you can be based anywhere in the UK. Once we start to re-open our offices for staff, you must be able to travel to an UnLtd office in England (Birmingham, Bradford, London), or a satellite office in Scotland or Northern Ireland with some travel across the UK

What we ask:

  • You should be registered as a university student
  • You have evidence of strong interest or experience in communications, digital marketing or campaigning.
  • You have a passion for communications and are keen to develop a career within this field.
  • You are a natural communicator; be that through the written word, imagery, speech or a combination of all three.
  • You enjoy working in an agile environment, managing and juggling multiple campaigns and projects at the same time.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • You are well organised and able to multi task with a keen eye for detail.
  • You have the confidence to contribute to the design of communications materials and feedback to colleagues and suppliers.
  • You have working user knowledge of MS Office.
  • You are dedicated, trustworthy and can demonstrate an empathy with our mission.
  • You are confident, approachable and considerate of others.
  • You have a flexible approach to the job combining energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
  • You are resourceful and open to experimenting with new forms of new media, new tools and software.
  • You are curious and a quick study, happy to immerse yourself in new concepts, audiences or ideas to get under their skin at speed.
