Cardiology ward / ACCU is a 41 bedded cardiac medicine and Acute Cardiac Care Unit. It cares for patients in an expanding, dynamic and flexible speciality with scope for both practice and personal development.

We are looking for forward thinking enthusiastic nurses to join our progressive and supportive Band 5 team. The patient population undergo a wide variety of cardiac procedures including Coronary Angiography and Intervention, TAVI, ICD and CRT implantation, complex Electrophysiology procedures and adult congenital heart disease. You would also be caring for patient’s pre cardiac graft and valve surgery.

As a Band 5 nurse you will have a keen interest in cardiac nursing and be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for career development. You will also be required to demonstrate excellent communication and people management skills. We will offer the potential to develop advanced nursing skills and excellent support through our advanced and experienced senior nursing team.

ACCU will give staff the opportunity to gain competence and develop skills followed the level 1 enhanced care competency guidance. This will be 12 of the 41 beds, catering for enhanced care level 1a* patients.

Incorporating primary PCI, heart failure, arrhythmias and other haemodynamic disturbances; 6 of these beds will be nursed with a 1:2 nurse ratio. This will allow staff to rotate between the units to develop advanced coronary care skills. This will replace the current Coronary Care Unit currently based on CTCCU.
