Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.
The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.
Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Nurse to join the Direct Delivery Team within the local Clinical Research Network (CRN). We are accepting applications for the Band 6 role. The Direct Delivery Team offers an exciting and innovative way of delivering research, with the aim of being both agile and responsive.
The CRN is part of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) which is the research arm of the NHS. The NIHR CRN for the Thames Valley and South Midlands is hosted by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The CRN Direct Delivery Team is helping to deliver studies across a wide range of specialties including Surgery, Cancer, ENT, Clinical Genetics, Infection and Anaesthesia with more areas in the pipeline. Due to the success of the team we have an opening to help develop our research portfolio. This is an exciting role within an expanding team providing an opportunity to build upon current skills and knowledge working across different specialties.
The current vacancy in the Direct Delivery Team represents an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hardworking nurse with an interest in clinical trials to join our small and friendly team. You should ideally have experience of clinical research, or be able to transfer your previously gained relevant clinical skills and knowledge to the role of the research nurse. You will be responsible for identifying and recruiting patients, seeing the patient through the trial, performing study assessments and ensuring data is reported accurately and on time. You will work closely with a variety of healthcare professionals and teams so excellent communication skills are essential, as is attention to detail. You will need to be able to manage your own workload but also work as part of a team.
Previous experience of working with research studies and clinical trials is preferred but not essential as full induction, training and mentoring will be provided. The team works across a variety of clinical specialties within the Trust so you must be willing to be mobile and flexible in your working practices. Informal visit or discussion about the team and the post are advised.
