We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Theatre Sister/Charge Nurse (Scrub) to join our team based at The London Clinic main hospital site in Central London, W1G 6BW (close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).

Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 234 beds and 10 theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive and day surgery theatres. Specialist areas include, General surgery; ENT; Gynaecology; Hepatobiliary; Neuro-spinal; Ophthalmic; Orthopaedic; Plastic and reconstructive; Robotic; Urology; Vascular & Weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery).

Job Summary

As a Theatre Sister/Charge Nurse you will provide advanced knowledge, skills, leadership and line management for the department, across specialities where required. You will be indirectly and directly supervising the senior scrub practitioner/nurses, Theatre practitioner/nurses and health care assistants within your specialities.

  • Job Type:  This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Shifts: Mixed Shifts – Earlies & Lates, including Weekends & On-call rota.
  • Salary: The salary range for this role is £44,085 - £53,157, and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of patient care, meeting all patient needs while also demonstrating constructive budget management.
  • Overall accountability for the day to day management of the registered practitioners/nurses and support staff in their team. You will be accessible and visible to staff, patients and visitors.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with our consultant colleagues, ensuring that their requirements to work at the highest level are met.
  • Ensure staffing is at an appropriate level to meet patient needs and take an active role in the reduction of agency and bank staff, in line with the 2020 objectives of the Clinic.
  • Ultimate responsible for the standard of the environment within your identified area of responsibility, ensuring patients’ needs are met and staff maintain cleanliness as defined by national standards.
  • Ensure that good infection control practice and high standards of nursing care are given.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Practitioner/ODP with NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Mentorship and/or Management course/qualification.
  • Extensive post qualification scrub experience in a range of surgical specialties. Experience in orthopaedics, robotic surgery, urology and gynaecology would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate an advanced level of evidence-based theory and practice, with a proven record of clinical decision-making and autonomy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team, providing a competency based training programme.
  • Highly motivated individual who has a friendly disposition and flexible approach, with the ability to work to deadlines and be able to consistently communicate the progress of tasks.
