Staff Mental Health Service for Staff
0.2WTE, 12-month Fixed Term Secondment
This is a unique opportunity to join this new service and shape the service development.
The Staff Mental Health Service (SMHS) is a new service providing a specialist mental health service to staff experiencing significant and ongoing mental health needs in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The service is delivered across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for staff working for Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge Community Services, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, and Royal Papworth NHS Foundation Trust. The SMHS has an administrative base in Cambridge, and it is possible to also work from home and other NHS sites in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. This is a new multi-disciplinary service and the post holder will have a key role in the development of the occupational health nurse role, the team, and the service. The service will be evaluated, and we are interested to explore the benefits of embedding occupational health expertise in the Staff Mental Health Service.
The SMHS forms part of a network of staff support services developed by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Trusts, and the team works closely with Occupational Health Services, Psychological Services, and other referrers to facilitate access to the SMHS. In addition to this post, the multi-disciplinary team includes a clinical coordinator, consultant psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, clinical nurse specialist, administrators, and sessions from a GP. The Occupational Health Nurse will have expertise and extensive knowledge and experience of the occupational health needs of health service staff. The role emphasises team working, providing occupational health expertise to the team, attending clinical team meetings, and advising on employment issues and resources. The Occupational Health Nurse will work with the team to establish and maintain effective working with occupational health services, primary care, and other referrers.
The SMHS is part of the Adult and Specialist Services Directorate within CPFT, and is a distinct service within the organisation, linked to the Psychological Medicine Service.
The service will be operational from September 2020, and this is a 0.2 WTE, 12-month secondment fixed term post, and is suitable for a secondment from an Occupational Health Service. This is an excellent career development opportunity, and the successful candidate will be supported by senior colleagues. It is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting and innovative new team. The post holder will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and be eager to work in a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the positive mental wellbeing of healthcare professionals within this region.
