Undergraduate Placement Marketing Manchester August 2021

Job description

Our purpose focuses on how we contribute to society, and how our business decisions can contribute to greater trust and solving important problems. In order to achieve our purpose and deliver a first-class service to our clients, we need first-class support internally. The people who power us - our internal teams - have a vital role to make sure we have all the right resources, services and technology to be the best we can be. Not all of us work directly with external clients. Some of our most talented people choose to harness their skills inside of PwC.

Marketing

Come and join us on an 11-month work placement in our award-winning marketing team. This is a very hands-on role where you’ll be involved in all aspects of marketing — from campaign planning, creative and content creation to digital advertising, social media and reporting. As a core member of our innovative and diverse team, you will help shape and deliver campaigns, learn about the latest marketing trends and gain a range of skills to boost your future career.

We help build our brand and work with the business to seize commercial opportunities, by operating at pace; reacting to market trends and sharing timely insight to the business is key to our success. We work directly with platforms like LinkedIn, B2B Marketing, with access to many other well known media owners through our agency relationships. Your role will involve working with them and also allow you to develop other ‘soft skills’ (such as teamwork, leadership and influencing skills) which are highly valued by employers.

Many of our placement students also benefit from joining our people networks and activities outside of the day job such as the Multicultural Business Network, Disability Awareness Network - DAWN, Gender Balance Network, ColourBrave, Shine network for LGBTQ+, PwC choir, PwC pantomime or community volunteering.

Our team is spread across the country and placement students can be based in any of our offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, London or Manchester; you will have the opportunity to travel to the other offices and also work from home. Everyday flexibility is a core part of our culture, empowering our people to decide when, where and how they work, and providing the technology to support that.

Undergraduate work-placement

These eleven-month placements are for students who need to complete a placement as part of their degree. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals on live and interesting projects. So you’ll get a good insight into working life at PwC.

What you'll do

  • Working in a large, multidisciplinary team across the Marketing Centre of Excellence, within our Campaigns, Content and Digital Marketing teams to deliver best-in-class, multi-channel campaigns

  • Working on a variety of projects — from year-round client events, running a paid social media campaign to building out automated client emails. You will help gather insight that informs our planning, learn about different marketing channels and be able to pitch innovative ideas that will boost our client experience.

  • Supporting with content creation including emails, presentations, blogs, web landing pages for campaigns and more. You’ll become a part of our social media super user group, drafting posts and monitoring our social activity.

  • Exploring how we monitor campaign performance, working on reports to collect data and gather insight to improve our messages, creative and overall approach

  • How we work with agencies, sponsors and brands like LinkedIn to bring the best of industry expertise and knowledge to our teams

  • Using many of our technology platforms that track and automate our marketing activity such as Salesforce and Marketing Cloud

  • Working with the other business placement students on a marketing project that will allow you to apply your knowledge, talent and skills

  • Public speaking and presenting regularly on any of the above by sharing regular updates of your placement experiences to small and large groups both virtually and in person

What you'll gain

By experiencing life inside one of the world’s largest professional services organisations, you’ll have a fantastic opportunity to build and work on your commercial and personal skills. Working alongside specialists, you’ll work on projects to give you the best insight into what we’re about. You’ll have the opportunity to build networks with your colleagues and peer group - factors which will make a real difference when you return for your last year at university.

What you'll need

  • A self-starter, and open to working flexibly, sometimes as part of a virtual team

  • Eagle-eyed and has good attention to detail

  • Creative and can problem-solve using their reasoning

  • A strong communicator with great people-skills and team-spirit

  • Has an interest in digital marketing and technology

  • To be on course for a 2.1 degree or above in any subject. We determine whether you're on course for a 2.1 based on the grades you achieved in your last completed year of academic study.

  • To be a second year undergraduate university student on a four-year degree expecting to do a work placement in your third year.

When to apply

Although there is no application deadline, each year we have only a small number of roles available. We therefore advise applying early, but please be prepared for a short wait in processing your application at each stage of our process while we consider your application alongside others.
