*Fixed Term Contract for 14 months - Apprenticeship*

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with City College Norwich and will be required to complete your Level 2 Clinical Health Care Support Apprenticeship Programme within the duration of the placement.

The Day Procedure Unit at Cromer Hospital is a six bay treatment area where patients undergo medical treatments, such as, blood transfusions, chemotherapy, infusions, venesections and bladder chemotherapy. Patients undergoing minor surgery in the procedure room including LA Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, Pain management, Hysteroscopy, Flexible Cystoscopy, Post-Menopausal Bleeding Clinic and Medical Botox. The eye theatre also offers Cataract and Oculoplastic Surgery and Intravitreal Injection lists.

The Out-patient Department at Cromer Hospital is a busy Unit, providing outpatient services to the people of North Norfolk and surrounding area. It comprises of Outpatients, phlebotomy and dermatology room. You will be expected to work in all areas of the Department and be taught to use the specialised equipment. Allies provides Outpatient appointments for Cataracts, Glaucoma, Medical Retinal, Oculoplastic, AMD and Occuloplastic.

You will be expected to work in all areas of the Department and be taught to use the specialist equipment.

You should be able to work well as part of a team and be able to prioritise your own workload.

Under the direction of the registered nurse, you will work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care.

To participate in the admission process under the supervision of registered staff.

To report all care that has been given to patients within the team to a registered nurse.

To accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a Registered nurse maintaining confidentiality at all times.

To assist in the preparation of patients and equipment for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed by the Registered nurse.

To keep the clinical area clean and tidy maintaining a safe environment.

To chaperone/escort patients to other clinical departments under the direction of the Registered nurse.

To participate in the admission process under the supervision of registered staff

Successful candidate will be expected to work a shift pattern on variable days including weekends and bank holidays.

Eligibility Criteria:

All applicants must be:

  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years
  • Must not have a Degree, Level 4 qualification or above
  • Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSE’s at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent)
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills
