We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual with an interest in clinical research to join our clinical trials team based at St Richards Hospital, Chichester as an Apprentice Clinical Research Practitioner. This exciting position will provide the ideal opportunity to develop clinical and research skills alongside studying for a BSc (Hons) in Applied Bioscience. This Clinical Trials Specialist Apprenticeship is a 5 year programme with Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Kent. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the post holder will have the skills and experience to apply for Clinical Research Practitioner posts and accredited registration on the Clinical Research Practitioner Register.

We are ideally looking for someone with experience of working in a hospital/healthcare setting, however full training will be provided. The individual will need to meet all academic entry requirements – evidence of this (including maths & English certification) will be requested prior to interview.

In addition to the academic theory-based learning, the post holder will work closely with the team of clinical research nurses and midwives, clinical trials facilitators and clinical research practitioners working on a diverse portfolio of studies across the Trust. The role involves providing protocol-driven research care to patients, carrying out clinical assessments, data collection and entry, basic laboratory work and research governance and administration. The post holder will also be responsible for promoting research within Trust departments and supporting colleagues and local investigators to deliver high quality research activity to support patient care. The role requires flexibility, excellent communication and the ability to work as a team member.

The post is 37.5 hours per week, weekdays only.
