Cyber Security - Core Advisory

In Cyber Security we deal with some of the most urgent issues facing businesses and governments today. We help organisations from all sectors operate securely in the digital world. Our specialist advisors help clients reduce their exposure to threats, improve their defences and respond to cyber incidents. We also help our clients address the legal issues around breaches, data protection and privacy and implement a culture and environment where people understand how to behave securely and do the right thing.

It’s a vast and complex field that involves everything from cyber security strategy and technical design, implementing effective security solutions and processes, to responding to cyber incidents and breaches.

Core Advisory is focused on supporting a broad range of risk and business consulting specialisms focused on helping our clients to manage their exposure to cyber risk. This two-year programme will involve a number of rotations across the different business areas, where you’ll gain the diverse experience needed to develop your cyber security skills and expertise.

Risk Assurance

Our graduate training programme is underpinned by a development framework that broadens and deepens your knowledge. You'll learn from hands-on coaching and an outstanding variety of work, picking up business, personal and technical skills you can use across the network, and throughout your career.

What you'll do

Some of the services we offer to our clients include

Assessing and measuring their exposure to cyber security risk
Developing a strategy and vision for tackling cyber security
Designing and implementing the secure IT architecture a client needs to be secure
Designing and putting in place security training and awareness programmes
Gaining experience of security operations and incident response.

What you'll gain

The Core Advisory team will provide you an introduction to cyber security fundamentals through initial training courses such as COBIT and CISMP during your first few months.

You'll receive on the job training where you get to understand cyber security principles and threat landscapes, understanding what it is concerning our customers, and how we resolve these issues.

What you'll need

You'll need to have or be on course for a 2.1. degree or above in any subject however a STEM degree is preferable. We determine whether you're on course for a 2.1. based on the grades you achieved in your last completed year of academic study
No specific IT knowledge or Information Security knowledge is required to apply for this programme. It is however highly desirable that applicants will have done an introductory programming module as part of their degree course that provides some knowledge of simple code development in a high level language such as Python, C, C++, C#, Matlab, Bash or Powershell
A curious mind and a genuine passion for cyber security is expected - the pace of change in this industry sector is so high that candidates will need to spend some personal time reviewing twitter, blogs and news articles in order to stay up to date.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake a UK Government SC level clearance as part of this role.
