Job DescriptionOur Client has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Rail Engineering Tutor/Assessor to deliver on Rail Engineering qualification.Tutor to travel between Walsall & Stoke Offices.JOB SUMMARY:Key responsibilities include: * Delivery of an effective programme of learning in Engineering Technology, and more specifically Railway Units * Assessing learners * To plan, establish and sustain good relationships with all learners * Contribute to the design and delivery of courses. This may include but not restricted to scheme of work, lesson plans, course material, hand-outs, individual learning plans, reviews and other student related paperwork * Establish strategies for dealing with poor attendance, punctuality, behaviour and class performance * Keeping registers and other student information as required by funding rules and for statistical purposes * Liaise with Academy Manager (and other staff members) to ensure a smooth running of courses * Undertake additional work to ensure quality and compliance is met to the highest standards. * Undertake administrative duties associated with the learning programmes such as open days, organising external visitors and organising learning-related trips.Education / QualificationsL3 or above qualification in Engineering TechnologyTeaching qualification (PTLLS or above)Assessor qualification (A1, TAQA or equivalent)Knowledge and familiarity with Railway UnitsExperienceExperience working within the Rail IndustryProven track record of successful completion of portfolios with success ratesCompetency in completing course compliance documentation in line with SFA guidelinesExperience of teaching post-16Experience of assessingExperience of Ofsted inspectionsKnowledgeKnowledge of current policy in the Skills Sector and how this appliesSkills/abilities * Ability to work independently demonstrating initiative and proactivity * Excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate concerns, complex / contentious issues in a diplomatic manner that does not offend or escalate * Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them * Ability to deal with changing priorities, work under pressure, work to tight deadlines and be flexible * Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels across the Company and with external stakeholders and committed to teamwork * Good standard of numeracy * Experience of working with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OutlookPersonal qualities * Ability to adapt and work flexibly when required * High level of attention to detail and accuracy * Determination and has the ability to achieve deadlines * Ability to work as a team member as well as using own initiative * Be able to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and establish relationships across the Company and with outside organisations * Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage difficult situations * Problem solving and decision-making skills * Ability to work closely with senior managers and staff at all levels * Able to demonstrate systematic approaches to workPaul Feldman is the National Skills Agency Data Protection Officer.
