Braille Technician in an SEN School - Part Time (2 days per week) - North LondonActive SEN are seeking a braille technician to work in an SEN school based in North London. This role is 2 days per week and you would be required to know Braille and how to use a Braille machine. You would be supporting a student who is blind and needs support academically, socially and emotionally. This role is ideal for someone who knows Braille and has previous experience working with children.Duties: * To develop appropriate materials to support a young person with Visual and Hearing Impairments (Multi Sensory Impaired – MSI), including modifying and adapting textbooks and other print materials as advised by specialist teaching staff. * To establish a supportive relationship with the young person, ensuring she is able to use the equipment and materials provided. * To work collaboratively with the Qualified Teacher of Visual Impairment (QTVI) and Teacher of the Deaf (ToD) in developing the use and deployment of ICT equipment for a Visually and Hearing Impaired young person. * To keep up-to-date with new developments linked to ICT equipment for a multi sensory impaired young person. * To take responsibility for equipment used by the young person, including: logging in and out; keeping accurate records; checking equipment; ensuring the pupil is able to use the equipment and materials provided; informing when materials need ordering.Requirements: * Knowledge of how to use Braille or Braille qualification * Clear DBS * Right to work in the UK
