We are an ICU with low vacancy and attrition rates but we are currently looking to recruit Band 5 Registered Nurses to all of our ICU’s, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.

For Band 5 Nurses, we have a clearly defined career pathway, supported by programmes of academic study, to help you shape your ICU career, including:

  • A supported 3 – 5 week supernumerary period, dependent on your previous experience. All newly qualified nurses receive 5 weeks.
  • Early enrolment onto our Foundation to Critical Care Programme. This is a classroom based training programme, where you will get to meet other new joiners to support your journey and learn the theory to underpin your practice.
  • Educator support to complete the National Step competency programme
  • Access to the Critical Care Course / Qualification in Specialism

In addition, as your experience grows you can access:

  • Leadership courses
  • Specialty courses in Trauma, Neuro and Cardiac
  • Quality Improvement Programmes
  • Rotation opportunities (including Outreach and ED)
  • Support to fulfil opportunities in Research & Audit

Throughout, you will be supported by our well-resourced and award winning Critical Care Education Team, who were noted to provide an ‘outstanding’ service in our 2019 CQC inspection.

As a Band 5 Nurse, you will be part of a part of an established team, who will help support you through your Band 5 journey.

We have 88 ICU beds across our three main hospital sites:

Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Mary’s.

The Hammersmith is ‘specialist hospital’ - a leading centre in major specialties including highly specialised Cardiothoracic services (Cardiac and Thoracic surgery), Hepatobiliary, Haematology, Renal, Upper GI and Cardiology. The site is also home to one of London’s eight heart attack centres. These specialities are supported by our 32 bedded ICU.
