Job description

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care, and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.

Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside’s district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region’s Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).

Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before.

Production Assistant ( fixed term 6 months) x 2

This post will be based at our new hospital in Liverpool which opened in May 2020, however for the interim you will be required travel to our Wirral site .

The Pharmacy is equipped with a £1.7m purpose built department consisting of licensed aseptic production and gene therapy preparation facilities. It is a friendly, forward thinking and dynamic department.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Pharmacy Assistant with either an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Practice including Unit 9 (dispensing module), or an NVQ Level 2 Diploma including Unit 8 (dispensing module).

You will be a good team player, possess good people and organisational skills, be able to work alone as well as in a team, and able to work under pressure in this environment.

The successful candidate with be based in the Aseptic Department, rotating through aseptic dispensing of chemotherapy, assembly and checking of raw materials and acting as Internal Checker for other dispensers when appropriate. you will go to hub clinics to help support nursing staff by puttting the treatments in the correct storage areas.
