ECTA is the training centre in Stockport, where the Classroom Training takes place (first 6 weeks). We have been running these Smart Meter Courses for over 5 years and gas training for the past 16 years.

That's why ECTA have teamed up with an industry leading Metering Installation Company to GUARANTEE you employment from week 7 of your training.
Guranteed Employment
You be embarking on a new career to be a fully qualified Dual Fuel SMART Meter Installer with guaranteed employment after 6 weeks on a starting salary of £20,000 + Bonus + equipment + van + pension + 20 days paid holiday.
1st Pay Increase: Following completion of 6 months employment and passing the company probation scheme, your basic salary will increase to £25,000 per annum plus Bonus Scheme
2nd Pay Increase: Following completion of 12 months employment, your basic salary will increase to £32,500 per annum plus Bonus Scheme
The Training
You will be trained in both Gas and Electric SMART Metering.
You will have a mixture of classroom learning, workshop work and onsite mentoring throughout the 13 weeks.
First 6 weeks are Classroom based at ECTA Training just outside Stockport, near Manchester.
Second 6 weeks is when you will complete your Portfolio, fitting meters in Customer's homes under the supervison and direction of a fully qualified Smart Meter Installer. This mentoring will take place as local as possible to where you live.
During the final week, which is back in Stockport, you will underatke your final examinations to gain the following:
The Qualifications
Level 2 Diploma in Smart Metering (gas & electric).
Domestic Gas ACS qualifications in CMA3 & MET1
EUSR Card (Energy and Utility Skills Register)
You will also gain a MOCOPA (electric metering competence) and be Gas Safe Registered.
Pre-requisites
Successful Candidates will need to have the following have
· Passion about becoming a fully qualified SMART Meter Installer
· Excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be facing customers on a daily basis.
· Clean Criminal Record
· Full Drivers Licence with no more than 6 points
· References from all former employers for a min of at least 5 years (can include educational facilities).

Applicants will recieve an initial pre-qualifying email by return from ECTA.
Then full details will be sent you via email along with an Application Form
Interviews and pre-assessment
There will be a Video interview and assessment with ECTA, which includes a Maths and English Test and Colour Vision Assessment.
This is then followed by a Face to Face Interview with the employer and if successful, receive a contract of employment prior to the course starting (and you having to pay any money).
Other useful information
Accommodation is at your own expense, although the training centre has a list of various local options to suit all budgets. This is only required for the Classroom because field mentoring will be as close as possible to where you live.
Over 400 trainees have attended and completed this course during the past 5 years. The course is designed for New Entrants with no previous experience of working within the metering or engineering industry
