Since our inception in 2007 our mission has been one of discovery. We have endeavoured to dig out the treasure buried in pirate radio playlists, forever hunting that golden, ‘Untitled’ by ‘Unknown’, streaming unheard in the deluge. Curation is our calling card. During our evolution we’ve been lucky enough to work with talent like Quantic, Jamz Supernova, Connie Constance, Alfa Mist & Kampire. As we discovered much of the world felt the same way as we did about our new finds, Black Acre naturally expanded into the music solutions company it is today. We cover artist management, publishing, music supervision and our precious record label at the centre.

Black Acre Pathways is a new 8-month programme which will run between March 2021 - October 2021. We’ll provide real pathways into the music industry through hands-on experience, networking and mentorship for two people aged 18-25. Regular mental health support will also be included in the programme, plus dedicated time for personal reflection and development. The wage for this opportunity is £3,000 plus an additional micro-grant of £1,000 to develop and deliver your own project with our support.

Deadline: 6pm Monday 18th January 2021

Shortlisting: 25th January - 7th February 2021

Interviews via Zoom: 8th - 21st February 2021

Programme: 1st March 2021 – 31st October 2021

Who can apply?

The programme is open to people aged 18-25 who are currently living in Bristol or Somerset and bordering rural areas. This is an opportunity to try things out and learn about the skills needed for different roles in the music industry. No prior experience is required, but you’ll need to be enthusiastic, organised, curious and focused. Perhaps you have creative ideas you’d like to develop? Or a vision for how you’d like the music industry to be in the future? Maybe you’d like to start your own record label, be a tour manager or promote gigs? If you’re interested in the music industry but don’t know where to begin, we encourage you to apply for this programme.

We want you to feel empowered to apply and particularly welcome applications from people with diverse and/or working-class backgrounds and also from rural/suburban areas, as these people are currently underrepresented in the music industry.

Where?

The programme will be a mix of virtual (online) and in-person working from our Bristol and Somerset bases. Any in-person working will be in line with Covid-19 government guidelines. We’ll contribute up to £14 per day towards travel and lunch expenses.
