We look after the procurement of all Goods Not For Resale - this spans across our buildings, equipment and services across our divisions: Retail, Manufacturing and Logistics. It’s big scale stuff and a unique opportunity to influence major spend areas; to give you a flavour, we support the spend on suppliers of £1.4bn across OpEx and CapEx. 

 

We’ve been making moves over the past 18 months. We’ve taken a look at our operating model and are focussing less on non value-add activities, replacing them with strategic solution building which will take the business forward. We’ve developed a team of analysts who offer critical business insight.  We have developed our skills base and are driving active stakeholder engagement more than ever. We are focussing on developing creative solutions to extract significant and sustained commercial advantage from our suppliers, collaborating with the business to optimize revenue opportunity, reduce costs and drive commercial benefit.

About the role

 

The successful Procurement Manager will have responsibility for: 

 

  •   
    Managing procurement of all Goods Not For Resale within the designated category, using best practice category management, supplier relationship management (SRM) and contract management techniques
       

  •   
     Ensuring detailed, forward-looking category plans which align to the wider business objectives, regularly reviewing and evolving plans based on changing business needs and  supply market dynamics
       

  •   
     Supporting stakeholders with relationship strategies with suppliers, supporting with strategic reviews, supplier performance management and contract compliance, developing joint plans with key stakeholders
       

  •   
    Maintaining credibility and relevance with the category, building a reputation for delivery, so that the Procurement team becomes trusted advisors and are recognised as a clear benefit.
       

  •   
     Influencing policy thinking and positively influence continuous improvement across the business, bringing drive, energy and pace to category activity.
       

  •   
     Developing and maintaining an extensive supplier network,, identifying new solutions and/or market shifts and seeking alternatives where necessary
       

  •   
    Thought leadership in the development and enhancement of procurement processes.
       

  •   
     Consulting with senior internal stakeholders to understand complex business problems and influence category development through the implementation of robust solutions which are commercially beneficial, creating a unified business strategy
       

  •   
     Becoming an expert within the category, driving meaningful results for Morrisons, ensuring the end customer receives excellent service through consistent supplier outcomes
       

About You

About you 

 

So that you are set for success, you will have the following skills, experience and knowledge:

  •   
     Strong knowledge and experience of developing and implementing category management best practices, SRM techniques and sourcing strategies
       

  •   
     A strong customer centricity with a track record of putting the customer first
       

  •   
     Ability to work at pace, in a fast and flexible environment with drive, energy and enthusiasm
       

  •   
     Significant commercial understanding with an excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision making background
       

  •   
     Experience of providing robust solutions to achieve business objectives and overcome business challenges
       

  •   
     Experience of building relationships at all levels to drive commercial benefit
       

  
 Experience of implementing and driving unified strategies in a complex business environment
