Apprentice Radiographer - COVID-19 in Exeter

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to enable you to take your first steps to become a Diagnostic Radiographer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our team as an apprentice radiographer. This is a new role that will see you working alongside a multidisciplinary team whilst you train to become a radiographer.

This apprenticeship will run in conjunction with the University of Exeter and will require you to study whilst working in the department. On completion of the apprenticeship you will gain a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging and will be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Diagnostic Radiographer.

Admission requirements are in line with those required for the equivalent university based degree programme - Diagnostic Radiographer Apprenticeship programme at the University of Exeter.

The Diagnostic Radiographer Apprentice will be based in the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Musgrove Park Hospital and will rotate through peripheral sites. The post holder will be expected to take part in the extended working day and 7 day rotation system.

Apprentices will be workplace based for four days (30 hours) per week and 1 day (7.5 hours) will be protected study time – either locally or at the associated Higher Education Institution (HEI). Attendance of training at the associated HEI is considered to be essential and annual leave must be arranged outside these sessions.

The post holder will fulfil all tasks and work as part of a team responsible for providing an efficient imaging service in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. To meet the needs of the service, the post holder may be required to work in other areas and hospitals as appropriate, as directed by the line manager. It may be necessary to attend other Imaging Departments to gain sufficient experience in some modalities.

Work as part of a team responsible for providing an efficient imaging service at Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. Attending mandatory block weeks for the Diagnostic Radiographer Apprenticeship programme at the University of Exeter.

Please note the successful applicant must be available to start in post on the 1st March 2021
