PATTERN SHOP TOOLMAKER

Our client is recognised as one of the leading of its type in Europe, using state-of-the-art plant and processes. This company is looking for a confident and proactive Pattern Shop Toolmaker to be part of their successful team at their Dorset based facility. Reporting directly to the pattern shop supervisor the role offers an attractive rate of £28700 to £31100 dependent on experience plus commission + pension and is a Mon-Friday 40 hour week, working 7am-3pm (although currently working 8am-4pm due to Covid pandemic).

The Pattern Shop Toolmaker will be is responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and improving all foundry tooling/pattern equipment and have experience in a toolmaker, tooling technician, tooling engineer, mould maker or manual/CNC machinist position. Ideally time served (or equivalent) you will also be able to read and understand engineering drawings, be experienced in working milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, bench grinders and/or listing hoists and have a background in the casting/moulding Industry.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Pattern Shop Toolmaker is responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and improving all foundry tooling/pattern equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* To repair, modify and maintain existing production tooling.

* To use all toolroom plant and machinery, such as manual lathes, drill presses, manual and CNC milling machines.

* To inspect your own work using precision measurement instruments, such as micrometres, gauges, vernier callipers and manual CMM machines.

* To conduct tool maintenance programs, ensuring tools are prepared and cleaned to the highest standard ready for production.

* To manufacture jigs, fixtures, replacement components and any other ancillary parts from technical drawings to a high level of workmanship in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

* To log completed tool maintenance/revalidation and repair work into the company's ERP system.

* Ensure correct marking and labelling of all tools.

* Be proactive in suggesting improvements in productivity and efficiency, part of the company's continual improvement program (CIP).

* Good housekeeping (5S) - Ensuring the foundry and surrounding areas are kept tidy and health and safety compliant.

* To undertake any other duties as requested by the Pattern Shop Supervisor or appropriate Manager.

The Pattern Shop Toolmaker will be responsible for providing support throughout this busy, vibrant business and be someone who has experience in a toolmaker, tooling technician, tooling engineer, mould maker or manual/CNC machinist position.

Compulsory Experience

* Experienced in the use of hand tools.

* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

* Experience in working with Toolroom machinery and equipment, such as milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, bench grinders and/or listing hoists.

* Experience in use of basic inspection equipment. (CMM, micrometre, height indicator, etc.),

* Possess strong communication and numerical skills

* Able to manage and prioritise multiple tasks.

THE PERSON

Desirable Experience

* Time served apprentice in relevant discipline (Or equivalent) or strong mechanical background.

* CNC milling experience

* Proven history of operating to a preventative maintenance program

* Experience in the casting/moulding Industry.

The successful candidates will be a well organised, self-driven individual with a good work ethic and a desire to work in a busy working environment. A flair for attention to detail is required with the drive to exceed team-wide targets.
