Collective Intelligence Systems Architect and Designer
Do you have a proven record of designing, prototyping and testing novel products or services, ideally for the public good? Nesta's Centre for Collective Intelligence Design was established in 2018 to explore how human and machine intelligence can be combined to develop innovative solutions to social challenges. We are now looking for two Collective Intelligence Systems Architect & Designers to help apply, develop, codify and spread this emerging area of innovation practice.
About this exciting opportunity
As a Collective Intelligence Systems Architect & Designer, you will lead the process of designing systems that combine crowd intelligence, data and new digital technologies to address complex issues. You will draw on, and help us further develop the method of collective intelligence design, building on the team's work and resources to date, plus:
These are new roles in our growing team, and you will have a unique opportunity to shape them.
What we are looking for
You might have a background in service design or interaction design, with experience of one or more collective intelligence methods (like crowdsourcing or Geographic Information Systems), plus current knowledge of technological trends and experience in applying digital technologies for social good. You will also ideally have some knowledge of AI and data science methods and how they can be applied to collective intelligence projects.
We're looking for someone who is curious and open-minded, and interested in learning new methods beyond their current wheelhouse. You'll be used to working within multi-disciplinary teams and passionate about connecting research with practice. The ability to work to tight deadlines and deliver on multiple projects is also essential.
About Nesta and the Centre for Collective Intelligence Design
Our vision is that by 2030, Nesta will have improved the lives of millions of people by designing, testing and scaling new solutions to society's biggest challenges.
We have chosen to focus on three guiding missions - equalising life chances, building healthier lives, and supporting a sustainable economic recovery. In each of these areas, we will partner with frontline organisations to generate and rigorously evaluate new interventions, and support their widespread adoption. We will support the creation of new products and ventures, and shape the system as a whole to support innovation.
Working with a range of delivery partners, we will deploy multi-disciplinary teams that bring together capabilities in design, data science, behavioural insights, experimental research, collective intelligence, and arts and culture methods. We believe that by bringing together innovation methods to design, experiment, rigorously evaluate, and scale innovations, we can be a world leader in driving innovation for social good.
The Centre for Collective Intelligence Design was established by Nesta in 2018 to explore how human and machine intelligence can be combined to develop innovative solutions to social challenges. We are now looking to increase the application of collective intelligence design to Nesta's new missions and continue to develop it as an innovation method for complex social challenges. You'll join a small but high-performing team with ambitions to deliver significant impact and influence through new strategic partnerships, practical experimentation and consultancy service offers.
Closing date: 4th January, 2021 at 8am. First interviews will be held on Wednesday 20th January 2021 (via Zoom). Second interviews will be held Thursday 28th January 2021 (via Zoom).
