SERVICE ENGINEER (INSTRUMENTATION): CHESHIRE BASED WITH REGULAR TRAVEL, EXCITING GROWING UK ARM OF A MULTINATIONAL COMPANY. £35-42K BASIC PLUS GREAT BENEFITS INCLUDING COMPANY CAR (BMW 3 SERIES OR SIMILAR), OVERTIME, COMPANY LAPTOP AND PHONE, 25 DAYS HOLIDAY PLUS BANK HOLIDAYS.

The Client

Our client is a specialist provider of instrumentation equipment to a wide range of process industries throughout the country. Due to increased levels of business they are now seeking a Service Engineer, based from their Cheshire office with travel.

The role will include working across all areas of the UK including periods of work on offshore oil & gas installations, co-ordinating with a small but growing sales team and interface with head office service support staff. The post holder will maintain effective working relationships with relevant people within the organisation ensuring effective flow of services, information and documentation.

Job Description

An experienced Service Engineer is required to provide product commissioning, troubleshooting and survey services to UK industrial and offshore clients. Responsibilities also include liaising with the UK sales team and HQ service team to ensure that all business and clients' expectations are fulfilled efficiently.

The candidate will ideally have experience in a similar role, with excellent written and oral communication skills. With a personable and engaging nature, you will be organised and methodical in your approach.

Duties for the successful candidate will include but not necessarily be limited to:

Commissioning of instrumentation and measurement technology at UK client sites ranging from Food & Beverage through to Offshore Oil & Gas Platforms
Service support consisting of troubleshooting, repairs and client reports
Fulfilment of client contracts and generating client reports

During quiet periods between service visits you will also be expected to work from the offices providing:

Client front-line telephone technical support
Occasionally you may also be asked to support Sales events such as technical sales presentations to clients or exhibition stand manning.

Have a professional, confident telephone manner
Effectively contribute to the teams approach to continuous improvement, e.g. identify and escalate ideas for operational process improvements to deliver a better service and/or improve efficiency
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; self-motivation and the ability to self-manage is essential in this role as the successful candidate will be required to work on their own initiative and with minimal supervision after the completion of the induction period
Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
Must be professionally presented
Clean driving license
Education and Experience:

Training will be provided where necessary but the ideal candidate will already possess:

Full apprenticeship (HNC or higher preferred) in relevant Engineering Discipline
Offshore certified status beneficial but can be provided
Background in Instrumentation, Electrical or Control Engineering
Broad experience of maintenance and operations in Process Control
Effective written and verbal communicator able to relate to employees and to customers at all levels
Industry knowledge/business knowledge
Proven background in process instrumentation
PC Literate - proficient on Microsoft packages, especially MS Excel and Word
Experience with XML protocols, Web-based applications/services, TCP/IP networking and serial based communications would be beneficial
