Job Title: Mortgage Underwriting Team Leader
Location: Remote for now but later will need to work in Fleet
Salary: Up to £37,000 (will consider more for someone with very recent exp)

About the role of Mortgage Underwriting Team Leader
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing an underwriting team daily to ensure staff are trained and competent to deliver professional, efficient, and high standards of customer service to customers, intermediaries, valuers, and solicitors. You will assist the Operations Manager to maximise team efficiency by assisting with team training and will ensure that targets and objectives are met whilst ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures
Responsibilities for the position of Mortgage Underwriting Team Leader
Directly manage a team of between 5-10 underwriters who have varying levels of experience
Work as part of a team of 3 Team Leaders reporting to the Pre offer Operations manager
Responsible for standard service and response times provided by the team
Responsible for recruitment, training, and development of own team
Maintain own caseload of work alongside managing a team
Hold a mandate of £500,000
Ensure relevant documentation and information is checked for adherence to policy and criteria
Oversee and act as a referral point for own team on more complex cases
Plan, organise and control workload within the team to ensure achievement of service standards
Motivate the team to maintain high morale
Lead, coach and develop the team to manage performance conducting and documenting monthly performance reviews
Monitor individual's performance and ensure quality audits are carried out, providing feedback, and acting where needed
As a line manager, evaluate and challenge team performance and business practices against industry best practiceExperience required for the position of Mortgage Underwriting Team Leader
Proven technical knowledge and experience gained from working for a mortgage originator
Proven experience of mentoring and coaching new team members
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Excellent planning and organisational skills
