Learning Support Assistants & Learning Mentors - Leeds

An SEMH school in South Leeds are looking for learning support assistants and learning mentors to work within their school on a day to day, short term and long-term basis. The school are requiring extra staff due to extra student referrals which has meant that the school are needing extra staff to work 1:1 and general classroom help.
This role will involve working on a 1:1 and some group work with students who struggle with social, emotional and mental health difficulties alongside another support staff and the teacher. You will be helping with their class work, carrying out pastoral duties and ensuring their mental health is protected. This role would be ideally suited to individuals who have previously worked in Pupil Referral Units (PRU), Outreach programmes, Youth work or worked with young offenders/ students with SEMH due to the nature of the students. Experience with managing challenging behaviours is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils out of the classroom, with pastoral and personal development
Manage behaviour of pupils sent out of class, freeing up other TAs
Patrol school and working with pupils not in class, for whatever reason and getting them to re-engage in learning.
