What Will You Do?

Minimize equipment downtime by providing support/maintenance of the automated test solutions (hardware and software). The test systems provide characterization and screening data for optical components at chip and/or module level in a cleanroom environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to operations to ensure test equipment is available to meet production schedules. Much of this support is ‘hands on’ and will be in a cleanroom environment;
  • Production is 24/7, shift work will be required (rotating or continental shifts are possible);
  • Commissioning and maintaining automated test equipment (ATEs) for optoelectronics components (Lasers, Modulators, Detectors, and Photonic Integrated Circuits);
  • Improving and maintaining existing test infrastructure to ensure production schedule and output targets are achieved;
  • Identify opportunities to maximise test capacity (test time reduction, re-test rate reduction…);
  • Technician training and process documentation authoring;
  • Supporting the development team by validating software, giving inputs to equipment design, wiring test kits and debugging electronics.

Requirements

  • Analog and digital electronics debugging, ability to interpret electronic circuit diagrams;
  • Experience in basic S/W debugging (stop/start/repeat failing code blocks);
  • Able to write detailed and informative error report clearly indicating problems;
  • Able to prioritise work when dealing with production impacting problems;
  • Knowledge of automated testing in a manufacturing environment;
  • Any text-based programming language ideally VB and/or C#, understanding concepts more important than syntax;
  • NI Test stand;
  • Instrument automation protocols (GPIB, RS-232, VISA, LXI etc);
  • National Instruments test instruments (e.g. PXI);
  • Knowledge of robotic systems;
  • High Precision Motion control (e.g. Thorlabs/Newport);


Desirable:

 

  • Experienced working with opto-electronics devices (laser, modulators, detectors);
  • Debugging of C# / VB.Net code;
  • Adjust / Modify TestStand sequences;
  • Epson Robot systems;
  • Re-teaching computer vision systems to recognise new products.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or equivalent experience in any scientific or Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) based field.
