How you will help us to make Zzoomm awesome ..

Your main role will be to provide support to the Network Planning and Design function with a field-based view of the practical implications of building a fibre-optic FTTP network in any given region.

You will be a key part of the Zzoomm regional team, working with Planning and Design team to keep the network plan for the Region informed by on the ground surveying activity and reports of practical implications of network construction in a given area.

Who will guide me ..?

You will report to the Planner/Designer on a daily basis and be a key member of his/her team. You will find that Zzoomm adopts a very open operational style and so you will have access to every area of the organisation and will have the opportunity to participate in broad cross-functional discussions around how to get the best results for the Business. The Network Planner and Designer will rely on you to exercise your knowledge and expertise to produce survey reports and recommendations that enable robust network designs and delivery plans to be produced

A day in the life of the Junior Network Surveyor ..

  • You will be supporting the network planner and designer so you will be in daily contact with them to agree which areas require your input from a field based perspective.
  • You will carry out on the ground investigations of particular sections of the planned network route to establish the practical implications of delivering the intended design, Identifying project related health, safety and environmental risks to feed back to the design and delivery teams
  • You might be looking at a particular engineering difficulty such as a bridge or railway crossing and working with Highways Engineers or Network Rail Managers to agree a buildable solution or identifying the most efficient way of installing customer connections to their properties.
  • You will spend much of your time in the field but you will need to visit the Regional office to liaise with colleagues and collaborate on the overall planning and design activities for the Region

What we need you to have ..

You’ll know how to ..

  • Interpret Network Design Drawings and Plans
  • Survey an MDU and design the Installation packs
  • Take into account all UK local and national authority regulations in respect to civil engineering works
  • Identify the best route for network construction, ensuring that the required build standards are met and that the right balance of cost and speed to deliver is achieved
  • Identify the optimum location for customer connection points in relation to the orientation and layout of the premises
  • Communicate effectively to other members of the Zzoomm team and ensure that there is a common understanding of the outcomes of network field surveys
  • Support the network construction teams when they encounter issues in the field, providing field survey input when issues arise during the network build phase.
