Job description

Our Client offers a full engineering consultancy service covering all aspects of railway infrastructure including Geomatics, Site and Ground Investigations, Civil Engineering Consultancy & Permanent Way Projects, Rail Training and Competence, Assurance and Compliance, Track Access & Isolations and Cable Theft Security.

Currently seeking a Structures Examiner/Checker for the North West areas.

The Role:

This role is responsible for helping to develop and manage the structures department, primarily from a Technical perspective.
Daily Activities:

Act as the lead examiner on complex structures or sites.

Co-ordinate staff and resources for clients engaged in undertaking engineering work on the Network Rail Infrastructure.
To mentor and provide guidance to junior and trainee examiners both on site and in the office.
To provide ongoing input and delivery guidance in complex and high profile projects.
To undertake Trainer and Assessor duties in technical competencies for the Infrastructure Services Team.
To understand and improve current on site processes, including the use of specialist access techniques.
To undertake report sign off and approval duties.
To undertake the role of Contractor's Responsible Engineer for examination duties.
Review applicability of the Task Briefing Sheet upon arrival at the structure to be examined.
Maintaining training and assessor records, programmes and plans.
Responsible for the development of staff within the Infrastructure Services team and shall develop working practices that encourage professional development against the identified needs of the team and wider business.
Act as Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) and Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) where competent to do so.
Competence Requirements

Extensive experience of railway or highway infrastructure
In depth experience of the structure inspection and examination procedures.
STE2 competence to NR/SP/CTM/017
Experience in carrying out structure investigation/condition surveys, inspection and examinations.
Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence.
