The Cambian Group, the UK's largest provider of specialist services in education, mental health rehabilitation and learning disabilities, is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join the team at Grateley House School.
Grateley House School is a successful residential special school for young people with a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome and/or associated disorders. We also have a house in Salisbury for our Sixth Form students. The Role
In establishments which function for 39 weeks a year, the Deputy Head of Care may operate in all residential groups, assisting the Head of Care to maintain high standards of care.
This role is about ensuring that the National Minimum Standards are met and high standards are maintained in the contexts of staffing, delegated budgets, the resources, fabric of the buildings and the health & welfare of students, to ensure conformity with Group policy and procedure, regulatory and legislative requirements.
The key aspects of the Deputy Head of Care job role will entail holding the responsibility for overseeing the smooth and effective running of two of the homes on-site, and leading on a programme for staff development and training within the residential service of the school. The Deputy Head of Care will be expected to contribute to developing the establishment by participation as required in the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and review of its policies and working procedures.
This vacancy is term time only. There will need to be flexibility on the days and hours worked in the week, including some evenings and weekends.

Successful candidates will have to meet the person specification in order to be offered this post. Qualifications required
· No criminal record including convictions, cautions, reprimands, bindings over or warnings which may be relevant to the safety and welfare of students/residents or staff
· RQF level 5 related to working with children/adults (as appropriate to the establishment) or Dip SW or 'Live' RNMH
. IOSH qualification desirable, or a willingness to complete this training
· Clean, current car driving licence
Experience required
· At least 2 years significant management/supervisory experience in a care setting within the past 5 years, at a standard assessed as 'competent' in all aspects of the job
· Experience (min 4 yrs.) of working effectively with people who experience difficulties similar to those experienced by students at this establishment
· Experience of effectively managing others, including those who themselves who have a supervisory role
· Experience of delivering good quality training and coaching
