Introduction

If you care for others without a second thought and are looking for a rewarding career where you can make a difference and changes lives for the better, then take your care to next level by joining the team as a Charge Nurse.  

As a Charge Nurse you will have previous experience in a similar setting as a nurse, and have excellent knowledge in healthcare and managing people. You will be leading the nursing team and coordinating the wards, ensuring procedures are being followed and a safe environment is maintained.

You will have the responsibility of organising shifts, on call rotas and managing the ward budgets. You will be an integral member of the team, offering your peers on-going guidance and training to ensure they have the necessary support system and skillset.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Managing and training of junior and nurse staff.
  • Working alongside the senior Nurse to manage the on call service.
  • Effective strategic resource management.
  • Supporting the implementation of local Clinical Governance Strategy.
  • Satisfactory completion of objectives as agreed at appraisal and monthly supervision.
  • Satisfactory fulfilment of core competencies.
  • Serious incident reviews and implementation of recommendations.
  • Demonstrates clear application of continuing professional development portfolio.
  • Ward Budget Management.
  • Providing strong and robust leadership in the clinical environment using the core skills of facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution, teaching and delegation.
  • Facilitates delivery of practice and support supervision
  • Actively contributing to the Nursing Service Agreement, departmental Risk Matrix and action plan and monitoring their implementation
  • To participate and take on active lead in organisational clinical and nursing audit programmes
  • Participating in and taking an active lead in organisational clinical and nursing audit programmes
  • Developing a coaching culture within the clinical environment
  • Manage the achievements and maintenance of the Care Standards Act.

Where you will be working

 Location14-18 New Church Road, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 4FH

Working at Brighton & Hove Clinic, you will join the multidisciplinary team that provides CAMHS Tier 4 service for young people aged 12 - 18 years with a prime diagnosis of eating disorders and who may have other mental health conditions.  


Combining the NICE guidelines recommended therapies, the service creates bespoke programmes that provide person-centred care to support each person’s physical, medical and mental health needs. Young people will participate in psycho-education to support their care plans, and are given the opportunity to engage in therapeutic programmes such as mindfulness, family and trauma therapy.


Working alongside the individual and their families, the MDT will collaboratively create care plans and risk assessments. You will empower individuals to manage and improve their health through their treatment within the community.


The service operates 24/7. You will work shift patterns including weekends, bank holidays and nights. Standard shifts are 12.5 hours a day, working 3 days for three weeks and 4 days for one week.
